With a leading 10-under par score after day2: How Olapade and Francis Epe are currently toping amongst Nigerians at the 2021 Uganda Open

It was not the best of starts for Nigerian players at the 2021 Uganda Open Golf Championship where only Andrew Odoh shot 1-over 72, to stay inside top 20 on day one.
With five other colleagues of his namely, Sunday Olapade, Francis Epe, Mobday Eze, Solomon Ideriah and Friday Akpodiete all carded 74 ,74, 79 and 81 to be placed T-31, T40, T81 and T88 after first round, at the Toro Golf Club in Uganda.
Although the Nigerian players did not disappoint as they all put up brilliant performances on day2.
Sunday Oapade & Monday Eze’s pair of 74’s, and Francis Epe’s 73 all needed a solid second round to make the cut, while Andrew Odoh needs to maintain the form on day 2.
For Sunday Olapade who shot a 3-over par on day1, the Osun State born professional sailed smoothly on day 2, where he carded 2 birdies, 2 bogeys and an eagle on the final hole for a second round 2-under par 69, helping himself secure a spot in the final 2 rounds of the tournament. With a cumulative score of (143) 1-over par after 36 holes.
Francis Epe also in like manner followed up his opening round score of 2-over 73 with a classic 1-under par on day2. Joining Olapade and seven other players from Kenya, Uganda and Malawi, for a joint 12th position on the leaderboard heading into the 3rd round.
Meanwhile Nigeria’s most traveled and top notch professional Andrew Odoh did not disappoint as he finished his first two rounds on 3-over par with scores of 72 & 73 respectively on day’s 1& 2 to narrowly escape missing the cut line by one 2-strokes.
Here is how the other 3 Nigerians fared in the second round of the Uganda Open to miss the cut.
A 79 on day2 by Monday Eze saw him drop off the weekend leaderboard as he carded an overall 11-over par (153) to miss the cut-line, which was set at 4-over course par after 36 holes of play.
While Solomon Ideriah of Portharcourt Golf Club who is in his first career international outing returned a day2 score of 1-over 72 as a follow up to his day1 score of 8-over par 79, to miss the cut by 5-strokes at 9-over par.
Also missing the cut after day2 was Ikoyi based professional Friday Akpodiete who shot a pair of 81’s on days 1 & 2 of the tournament.
On the Leaderboard:
Currently leading the tournament by one shot at 10-under par is Zimbabwean player Robinson Chinnoi and closely being chased by Kenyan professional Jastas Madoya at 9-under par.
